Thirty Cookbooks and 10 gift baskets featuring an array of items representing the home countries of Casper College’s international students are now on sale to help raise funds for the Casper College International Student Club.

Club members came up with the idea of gift baskets and cookbooks as a way to help pay for a fun trip the group is planning to take to Denver over spring break. According to Mala Stagg, international and athletic student coordinator, each basket features two ornaments painted by the students, one of their country’s flag and another of something that represents themselves or their country; a mug with the student’s country flag and signature; a copy of a cookbook compiled by students in the club; and two tickets to a cultural meet and greet in February.

The baskets are $50 each. Countries represented in the baskets include Canada, France, Hungary, and Spain. The cookbook featured in the baskets is also available for sale individually for $10. “The cookbook features 34 recipes from 14 different countries submitted by the students of some of their favorite foods from home,” said Stagg.

Casper College is home to 50 international students for the 2023-2024 year, and 31 are members of the International Student Club. “We typically meet once per month, in addition to community service and on-campus activities,” Stagg said. She noted that the students wanted to do something fun together and decided on Denver to see attractions there. Stagg and Eric Atkins, Spanish instructor, are the club advisers and will act as chaperones for the trip.
