Casper College GLAM returns for 2026 with a day of presentations featuring a wide array of campus treasures from across the college’s collections Wednesday, Sept. 30. The GLAM day of presentations, created to celebrate the currently running GLAM exhibition, will be accompanied by a series of short presentations beginning at 10 a.m. The Casper College GLAM exhibition, on display through Thursday, Oct. 22, draws from the galleries, library, archives, and museums of Casper College to present ‘The West: Past, Present, and Future.
GLAM, which stands for Gallery, Library, Archive, and Museum, is a combined exhibit highlighting the wonders of natural history, regional heritage, literature, and the visual arts. “Visitors are invited to explore the rich stories, artifacts, and creativity that connect science, culture, and art, offering a rare opportunity to experience these collections side-by-side,” said Valerie Innella Maiers, art instructor and director of galleries.
Short presentations from a wide variety of guests to celebrate the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 30. A reception for the exhibition will be held at noon. The presentations will begin at 10 a.m. and continue after the reception. The schedule for the day is as follows:

- 10:30 a.m. Clint Gilchrist “The Making of a Beaver Top Hat”
- 11-11:30 a.m. Russell Hawley “Fighting for Fossils: Cope, Marsh, and the Bone Wars”
- Noon — GLAM reception with a short PowerPoint presentation by Innella Maiers
- 12:15 p.m. Sydney Smith “Western History Center: A Case Study in Conservation”
- 12:25 p.m. Patrick Amelotte “Hemingway and the Big Read”
- 12:35 p.m. Luis Alza Leon “The Casper College Herbarium”
- 1 p.m. John McCoy “Beavers — Ecosystem Engineers: Their Decline and What We’re Doing to Bring Them Back”
- 1:30 p.m. Hanz Olson, “Guiding Internships in GLAM: Finding the West in the Past, Present and Future”
Casper College GLAM is the brainchild of Innella Maiers, who conceived the idea while visiting Oxford’s museums in England. There, she “ … noticed a type of collective programming called GLAM. “Casper College is rich in cultural resources, so I sought to replicate this concept and developed a GLAM initiative to represent the college’s galleries, libraries, and museums,” said Innella Maiers.
The Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library, the Western History Center at Casper College, the Casper College Foundation Fine Art Collection, and the Tate Geological and Werner Wildlife museums all participate in the annual GLAM Exhibition. The first Casper College GLAM effort took place during midterms in the fall 2024 semester, while the 2025 exhibition coincided with the 40th Annual Casper College Humanities Festival and Demorest Lecture, held Sept. 17 through Oct. 18.
The 2026 Casper College GLAM Exhibition will be on display through Thursday, Oct. 22. The exhibition, presentations, and reception are free and open to the public. The reception will be held in Room 119 of the Dick and Marialyce Tobin Visual Arts Center, while the exhibition is housed in the Casper College Alumni Association Art Gallery, also in the Tobin Visual Arts Center on the Casper College campus.
