The Creative Music Series at Casper College will present Grammy-nominated jazz pianist, composer, and improviser Art Lande.

Lande will present a “Creative Music” workshop Monday, Oct. 28, from 4-6 p.m. On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Lande will be in concert with Ron Coulter and Mike Facey, Casper College music faculty, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Both the workshop and concert are free and open to the public.

Internationally known, Lande has performed with such jazz greats as Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw, Bobby Hutcherson, Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden, and many others. Lande’s band, Rubisa Patrol, performed from the mid-70s through 1983 and recorded on the ECM Records label. More recently, following his move to Boulder, Colorado, Lande presented a weekly concert in Boulder. The concerts drew from a large list of different bands, members, and special seasonal guests from nearly everywhere and were not to be missed. Each concert became an occasion of musical adventure, inspiration, spontaneity, warmth, and soul, according to Coulter, Casper College percussion instructor.

Lande’s workshop will take place in Room 116, and the concert will take place in the Wheeler Concert Hall, both located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.

The workshop and concert mark the 13th and 14th events of the newly created Creative Music Series at Casper College. The series is sponsored by the Natrona County Board of Cooperative Educational Services, the Casper College Music Department, and Casper College.
