The Casper College Respiratory Therapy Program has received the prestigious Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist Credentialing Success Award for the third year in a row. This is the eighth time overall that the program has received the award.
Excellence in the Casper College Respiratory Therapy program
Recognized programs were required to have at least three years of outcomes data, maintain accreditation without a progress report at the end of the year, document RRT credentialing success of 90% or higher, and meet or exceed the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care’s established thresholds for certified respiratory therapist credentialing success, retention, and on-time graduation rate. Each year, only about 16% to 20% of eligible entry-level programs in the United States earn this distinction.
“The dedicated efforts of Grant Hosking and Tiffany Scott have yet again led to this prestigious RRT award. This award puts the Casper College Respiratory Therapy program in the top 15% of all respiratory programs in the nation,” said Dino Madsen, dean of Health Science at Casper College.
Madsen emphasized that the program’s consistent performance reflects a deep commitment to student success and clinical excellence, qualities that distinguish Casper College as a leader in health sciences education within the region.
National Recognition Reflects Local Dedication
Recently, Grant Hosking and Tiffany Scott received an email from Amy Whitacre, Talent Engagement Consultant at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, who works with Casper College students. She wanted to share an email from Angela Saunders, senior clinical director, division of respiratory care at CCH. It read, “Please continue to push for students from Wyoming; the last 2-3 have been amazing.” “Amy said that she has never received an email like that and wanted to send kudos to our program,” Scott, director of clinical education, said.
“As a program, we are very glad to be receiving this award again. We have received a tremendous amount of support from within Casper College, including our adjuncts, the other health sciences programs, college administration, and our dean of health sciences,” said Hosking, Casper College Respiratory Therapy Program director.
Hosking noted that he and Scott were also grateful for support from the respiratory therapy program’s clinical partners. Those partners mentor Casper College students for thousands of hours each semester and have helped the program grow.
These vital partnerships provide students with diverse clinical experiences in real-world settings, ranging from acute care to specialized respiratory treatments, ensuring that Casper College graduates are fully prepared to enter the workforce and provide exceptional patient care from day one.
“Everyone who has been a part of this program understands the hard work that our previous program director, Doug Neubert, invested in our success. I am incredibly thankful for the role every individual has played in our success,” said Hosking.
Scott also expressed her gratitude: “As always, I have to shout out our amazing group of clinical instructors and all the facilities that support our students and help them to achieve the best education,” said Tiffany Scott, director of clinical education. “We continue to have the best clinical instructors, preceptors, and hospital partners who all play a part in preparing our students to be the best. And the students, they are out there making Casper College look so good,” she added.
The Casper College Respiratory Therapy Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care and prepares students for careers as life-saving specialists who evaluate, treat, and care for patients of all ages — from premature infants to elderly patients with chronic conditions.
