CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Wyoming Supreme Court, will be holding an oral argument and public education program on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Casper.
The Court will hear a case involving a dispute between private property owners and the City of Laramie (Hale et al. v. City of Laramie) beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Wheeler Concert Hall, Music Building, 1451 Lisco Drive, Casper. Although the Court typically hears cases at the Supreme Court building in Cheyenne, this special session gives Casper-area residents a chance to see the state’s highest court in action.
Following the proceeding, the Court, in coordination with Casper College, the Federal Public Defenders Office District of Wyoming, the Natrona County Bar and the Williams, Porter, Day & Neville Law Firm, will host a “You Be The Judge” program starting at 11 a.m. The interactive event features a mock oral argument presented by local attorneys, with Casper College students acting as justices. The event aims to provide insight into the judicial decision-making process and the responsibilities of Wyoming judges.
“This program gives us the chance to show students and citizens how the Judicial Branch works, and why we are so dedicated to upholding the rule of law with an emphasis on transparency,” Chief Justice Lynne Boomgaarden said. “We’re grateful to Casper College and volunteers for their partnership in making this possible.”
Both the oral argument and the educational program are free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.
