New scholarship for CC aviation majors announced
The Fly Casper Alliance has created a new scholarship for Casper College aviation majors.
The Fly Casper Alliance Scholarship Fund for Aviation Students will award $2,500 to two aviation majors to be split between the spring and fall semesters. “Fly Casper Alliance is establishing the fund to help Casper College commercial aviation students offset the cost of commercial flight school. FCA wants to help commercial aviation students get through the program faster to offset the national pilot shortage that directly impacts Casper and the state,” said spokesperson Kaycee Wiita.
According to Wiita, the FCA was able to create the Fly Casper Alliance Scholarship Fund for Aviation Students partly from money raised through the 2023 Run the Runway run held last summer at the Casper/Natrona County International Airport. Those funds were matched by the McMurry Foundation.
Students must be aviation majors working on a certificate or degree, registered for the commercial flight class, have a minimum 2.0 GPA, and take at least six credit hours to qualify for the scholarship.
