English as a Second Language class helps improve the following skills:
Classes are taught using a communicative approach and individualized to the needs of each student. Assessments are required and administered to determine beginning skill level and measure growth.
Classes are located at the Werner Technical Center on the Casper College campus, 2036 Lisco Dr.

Students must:
Learning English requires a serious commitment of time and effort. To be successful, students should attend 2 or more classes per week.
You must be 18 years old or older, out of school, and a non-native English speaker. You must commit to attending regularly and completing 50 hours. Students can also complete distance learning so they can earn part of their hours outside of classes. As of July 2025, students are also required to provide documentation of legal status in the United States. You can talk to a teacher confidentially to determine whether you qualify for services.
Speaking, listening, reading, and writing are taught in class. Students have access to a computer lab and tutoring outside of class time. We also offer distance learning, including Zoom, so you can study online after testing and spending 12 hours in class.
The test shows students’ growth. We need to know how much English you know when you start, AND how much English you’ve learned. This is how we get the money to continue the program.
Language learning requires a lot of practice. Coming to class is the most beneficial option, but students are encouraged to study at home, too. You can also come every day the center is open – even if there is no class – to use the computers or study on your own.
No. Children are not allowed to be on campus while parents attend class. Everyone in class must be 18 or older.
Please contact an instructor immediately so we can find another class time that fits your schedule. You are welcome to come to other classes. We offer distance learning so you can complete part of your hours from home using approved materials, websites, or platforms.
Just keep coming! Immersion is the best way to learn a language and we do not give grades. Our teachers work very hard to meet the needs of all students but language learning does take persistence and effort from the student. If you want to learn something specific, please ask your instructor.
A Social Security Number (SSN) is not required to sign up for our program; however, we can only enroll students with documentation of legal status in the United States.
