Civic engagement and leadership encompasses active citizenship, community involvement, advocacy, awareness of social issues and injustices, and the development of personal and social responsibility.

Service learning project with ServeWyoming

Are you a student at Casper College looking to build your resume and enhance your skills outside of the regular classroom? Would you like an opportunity to work on a project related to your academic major and/or career interests while helping your community? Then we have the project for you!

Casper College, in partnership with ServeWyoming, has short term projects with various local nonprofits that you can apply to work on as a service learning project. You will be paired with a qualified professional in the community who will help you design and work towards completion of the project. Projects will vary, but you should plan to commit approximately 10 – 20 hours during a semester in order to complete the project. Upon successful completion of the project you will be eligible to receive a $500 stipend.

Eligibility requirements:

Must be a degree seeking student enrolled at Casper College
Able to commit approximately 10 – 20 hours in order to complete a project
Selection into program is contingent upon consent to and successful clearance of state criminal history information, fingerprint-based FBI background check, and search of the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW)
Provide a government issued Photo ID
Provide a Birth Certificate/Passport OR Permanent Resident Card/Alien Registration Receipt Card

Student Ambassador Employee Program – The student ambassador employee program gives students hands on training and experience with communication, tactful listening, conflict management, customer service, tour facilitation and leadership.

Student Senate – Student Senate give students in the opportunity to be involved in hands on learning organizational structure, college issues, political process, decision making, budgeting, allocating and leadership among other things.

Phi Theta Kappa – Phi Theta Kappa provides students the opportunity to work on Co-curricular programs that focus upon the Society’s Hallmark of Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship.

Thunderbird Student Leadership Institute – This four-week institute selects exemplary students to be involved in foundational experiences involving many topics and tools to further leadership skills for future success.

National Society of Leadership and Success (contact: Dannielle Anderson, advisor; Shelby Garner, advisor) – The Society is an organization that helps people discover and achieve their goals. The Society offers life-changing lectures from the nation’s leading presenters and a community where like-minded, success-oriented individuals come together and help one another succeed. The Society also serves as a powerful force of good in the greater community by encouraging and organizing action to better the world.
