College’s Hugo named Second-Team All-American
Casper College freshman soccer player Victor Hugo was named to the 2020-2021 NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Second Team All-Americans. Of the 11 players from throughout the country to receive the honor, Hugo is one of only two freshmen named to the list.
The inaugural season for men’s soccer at Casper College was very successful. The team went 11-2 and 7-1 in Region IX. Hugo scored a goal during the season and had three assists, helping the Thunderbirds finish the regular season ranked No. 7 in the country.
“Victor is a dominant player, and we get to see his ability daily in training. He makes players around him better with his work ethic and passion,” noted head coach Ben McArthur, adding, “We are excited he will be returning to Casper College in fall 2021 to help us make a run at the region title.”
Hugo, a general studies major, is from Rio de Janeiro and will return to his defensive position as a sophomore for the 2021-2022 season. “We are proud of his Second Team All-American award and know that his best soccer is still ahead of him. The accolades he has gotten are well deserved. Overall, Victor is just a fantastic student-athlete who represents Casper College in a positive manner in all he does,” said McArthur.
