Casper College Volleyball star player Jana Gilic has committed to play volleyball at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida.

Gilic, who hails from Trstenik, Serbia, recently was named to the 2020-2021 NJCAA DI Volleyball Second Team All-Americans. The last time a Lady T-Bird received a Second Team All-American designation was in 2009 when Konefesi Vaisigano was named.

In addition to her national honor, Gilic was also named to the All-Region IX North team and was Player of the Year for the All-Region IX North team. “Jana has worked very hard to get where she is at and has improved with her blocking footwork and the quickness of her arm swing,” said T-Bird head coach Angel Sharman.

Gilic’s stats on the court increased between her freshman and sophomore years, where her kills went from 126 to 271, total attempts went from 406 to 643, and total points earned by the team while Gilic was serving went from 213 to 369. “I am very proud of her work on the court as well as in the classroom,” Sharman said, adding, “Jana is going to do great things because she knows what to do. I am very proud and excited to watch her grow even more.”

Gilic will be playing under head coach Chris Keen who has been leading the FSC Moccasins since 2018. The Mocs, who compete in the Sunshine State Conference, played a limited schedule for the 2020-2021 year and went 1-1.
