Region 9 Volleyball Tournament brackets for the 2026 NJCAA Region 9 and Northwest Plains District Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 4-7, at the “Swede” Erickson Thunderbird Gym have been released.
Region 9 Volleyball Tournament First-Round Matchups
The tournament will feature eight teams. Four matches will be played Wednesday, with four teams from Region 9 North facing four from Region 9 South. The first game at 11 a.m. will feature the Northwest College Trappers against the McCook Lady Indians. Northwest finished the season 13-14 overall and 5-5 in conference play, while McCook finished 16-15 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
At 1:30 p.m., Eastern Wyoming Lancers will play the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars. The Lancers finished the year 10-19 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Cougars finished the year 21-14 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
At 4:30, the Central Wyoming College Rustlers will face the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen. The Plainswomen are ranked No. 6 in the nation by the NJCAA, with an overall record of 25-6 and a 14-0 mark in conference play. The Rustlers enter the tournament with an overall record of 6-18 and a conference record of 5-5.
The day ends with the evening contest at 7 p.m. between the Casper College Lady Thunderbirds and the Trinidad State Trojans. The Birds closed out the 2026 season with an overall record of 18-13 and a conference record of 10-0. The Trojans finished the season 13-17 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
The Region 9 Volleyball Tournament continues Thursday, Nov. 5, with four more matches at the same times as Wednesday. On Friday, three matches will be held at noon and 2:30 p.m., with the Northwest Plains A Region 9 Championship at 5.
The tournament’s final day, Saturday, Nov. 7, will feature two matches: the first at 11 a.m. and the second, the Northwest Plains B Championship, at 4 p.m.
The Northwest Plains A Region 9 and the Northwest Plains B champions will represent Region 9 at the NJCAA DI Volleyball Championship, Nov. 18-21, at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Admission to the Region 9 Volleyball Tournament is available by the day or for the full four-day event. The all-tournament pass is $28 for all four days. All-day ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 60 and older, and $6 for students ages 7-17. Children aged 6 and younger are free.
