New artificial intelligence certificate offered at CC for the fall 2027 semester

The new artificial intelligence certificate at Casper College will launch in the fall 2027 semester to prepare students and professionals for evolving workplace technology.

Artificial Intelligence Certificate Curriculum and Format

The AI certificate requires a total of 12 credit hours over two semesters and seeks to help students, employed workers, and community members understand the fundamentals and real-world applications of AI technology. The certificate includes an introductory course and courses in ethics, information literacy, and applications of AI in a professional setting. It is offered both on campus and online.

Renee Griffith, current director of Casper College’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment, said the certificate program was created to meet the growing demand for employees who can implement AI in the workplace effectively. She added that helping guide students to use AI appropriately in the classroom was another reason for the initiative.

“I think AI literacy is a durable skill. Our workforce needs to have that durability in understanding and making modifications because AI is not going away. We have to use it appropriately, and think how can it make things more efficient,” said Griffith.

The artifical intelligence certificate provides participants with:

  • Accessible, hands-on learning with no advanced technical or programming prerequisites
  • Practical focus on prompt engineering, workflow automation, and data-informed decision-making
  • Experience with integrating AI tools into the workplace to improve efficiency, productivity, analysis, and innovation
  • Coursework designed to complement any major or existing career path.
