Classes to Explore Holocaust, Terrorism, and Latin America

Three unique classes that will look in-depth into their topics will be offered for the fall semester at Casper College.

“The Holocaust” HIST 2080, “ … will help students explore the historical context, causes, perpetrators, targets, methods, and consequences of this horrific time in world history and the lessons it holds for today,” said Erich Frankland, political science instructor and department chair. The class, which will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will run from 11-11:50 a.m. and be taught by Tanis Lovercheck-Saunders, history instructor.

“Terrorism” POLS 2128 “ … will help students comprehend the motivations, methods, types of actors, targets, and counters to this form of political violence by nonstate/group and state actors,” Frankland said. The class will also include both historical and contemporary cases for students to study, according to Frankland. The course will be taught by Jason Charrette, political science instructor on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:45 p.m.

“Governments and Politics of Latin America” POLS 2290 will be taught by Frankland who “ … will introduce students to the history, politics, culture, economics, and other aspects of this important region.” Students will go more in-depth with six countries: Mexico, El Salvador, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, and Peru. The class is listed as an honor’s section but is open to all students, Frankland said. The class will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
