Turkish Dinner First for 2015-2016 School Year
The first cultural dinner for the 2015-2016 school year at Casper College will feature foods from Turkey. The Turkish dinner will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tobin Dining Hall, located in the Casper College Student Union building.
The dinner will feature stuffed grape leaves, olives, hummus, pita bread, a variety of cheeses, grilled eggplant and tomatoes, kebab, rice, borek (a filo dough dish filled with cheese or meat), and lentil soup. Sodexo Executive Chef Trev Trautman will prepare the food.
Valerie Innella Maiers, art history instructor and director of art galleries at Casper College, will give a presentation on Turkey during the dinner. Innella Maiers led an art history trip to Turkey during the spring 2015 semester.
Other dinners scheduled for the school year are Mexico on November 12, Philippines on February 18, and Peru on March 31.
Through October 2, both advance individual and ticket packages will be on sale. The cost for a ticket package, which includes tickets for all four meals, will be $45 for adults and $35 for children ages 7 to 12. Tickets for individual dinners are $12 for adults and $8.75 for children ages 7 to 12 when purchased in advance, and $13.75 at the door. There is no charge for children 6 and under. Sales tax will be added to all ticket purchases.
According to Janet de Vries, Casper College Diversity Committee member, tickets may be purchased at the Casper College Business Office or the Gateway Café, both located on the third floor of the Gateway Building, as well as at Tobin Dining Hall during regular meal times. Cash is accepted at all locations and credit cards are also accepted at the cafeteria and café.
