Livestock Judgers Receive Honors

The freshman and sophomore livestock judging teams from Casper College received honors recently when they competed in the Colorado State University Mock Contest.

“This was a great showing for our judgers,” said Jeremy Burkett, livestock judging coach. On the freshman side, the team comprised of Jayelyn Ruckman, Fairfield, Montana; Tanner Baird, Lafayette, Indiana; Jerica DeLong, Craig, Colorado; Keayla Harr, Jeromesville, Ohio; and Chancy Templeton, Gillette, Wyoming, took third in both sheep and oral reasons. Individually DeLong placed eighth in sheep, Ruckman took first in cattle and third overall high individual, and Parker took eighth in cattle and 10th overall high individual.

Two sophomore teams competed in the contest. The black team, comprised of Ty Shockley, Wheatland, Wyoming; Cannon Brown, Queen Creek, Arizona; Tyler Pickinpaugh, Torrington, Wyoming; Michaela Clowser, Seward, Nebraska; and Morgan Cortez, American Falls, Idaho, took first place overall and in cattle reasons, third overall in reasons and fourth overall in hog reasons. Individually, Pickinpaugh was overall high individual, second in reasons and sheep, third in cattle, and fifth in hogs. Clowser was sixth overall high individual and sixth in both hogs and cattle. Shockley took fifth in cattle and Brown placed sixth in reasons.

The sophomore red team placed fourth overall team and was comprised of Jonah Wing, Casper; Joshua Berry, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Justin Irgens, Baker, Montana; Ian Brooks, Casper; and Matthew Winterholler, Gillette, Wyoming.
