November 3 RedStone Features Darrell Wagner and Wyoming Baroque
The Casper College RedStone Recital and Gallery Series presents an evening of art and music on Friday, November 3, 2017.
Opening at 6:30 p.m., the Zahradnicek Gallery in the Music Building will feature an exhibition by Casper College costumer, Darrell Wagner, displaying his original costume designs from the recent play production of “The Rover,” which is set in the 17th century. Wagner will present an artist talk, and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Wagner has been the theatre instructor in costuming since August 15, 2016. Before joining the Casper College Theatre and Dance Department, he worked in professional theatre as wardrobe supervisor for the tours of “ANNIE,” “Cats,” “West Side Story,” “Rent,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life.”
At 7:30 p.m. in the Casper College Wheeler Concert Hall, a recital titled, “A Tale of Two Countries: Music of the English and Italian Baroque” will be presented by Wyoming Baroque by three scholarly and accomplished musicians, Carrie Krause, violin; Mark Elliot Bergman, violone; and Erin Hanke, harpsichord.
The Wyoming Baroque brings together nationally-known musicians specializing in historically-informed performances of the 17th and 18th-century repertoire as well as contemporary compositions featuring instruments built to the same specifications. The ensemble is in residence at Sheridan College.
Krause serves as concertmaster of the Bozeman Symphony and performs as the baroque violinist with ensembles across the country and on numerous international series.
Bergman is currently the director of strings at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he also teaches music history, composition, and directs the Sheridan College Symphony Orchestra and the Sheridan College Viol Consort.
Hanke is the director of the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College and recently appeared at the Silicon Valley Music Festival in California as both performer and lecturer.
A reception will follow the recital. General admission tickets are available online at caspercollegearts.cc for $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are also available by phoning the Casper College School of Fine Arts and Humanities office at 307-268-2606, or on the evening of the performance in the Music Building, Room 137.
