A collection of six hilarious one-act comedies by playwright David Ives will be the final offering for the 2024-2025 theater season at Casper College. “All in the Timing” will be performed April 24-26 and May 1-3 in the Thomas H. Empey Studio Theatre, and tickets are available for purchase.

“Working on ‘All in the Timing’ has been a total joy this semester,” said Joel Shura, director. “It’s a fast-paced, witty, and wonderfully weird collection of plays that showcases our students’ burgeoning comedic talents,” he added.

Playwright David Ive’s comedy was written between 1987 and 1993. “All in the Timing” premiered off-Broadway at Primary Stages in 1993 and was revived in 2013. It ran for 606 performances and has become a bit of a cult hit. The play won the Outer Critics Circle Award, the John Gassner Playwriting Award, and a nomination for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play. The six short plays are either comedies or comedy dramas and include “Sure Thing,” Words, Words, Words,” “The Universal Language,” Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread,” “The Philadelphia,” and “Variations on the Death of Trotsky.”

Ives, an award-winning playwright, is often hailed as “the master of one-acts,” according to Broadway World. “All in the Timing,” written over six years, explores the limitless mysteries of time, space, relationships, and language, and all six are notable for their verbal dexterity, theatrical invention, and quirky humor, according to Good Reads. Shura noted, “Each piece is set in its own little world, and together, they create a show that celebrates timing, language, repetition, and love. We’re having a blast bringing it to life!”

“All in the Timing” is suitable for everyone 13 years old and older. Tickets for “All in the Timing” are on sale online at caspercollegearts.cc, at the box office, or by phone at 307-268-2500. The play begins at 7:30 p.m. Two matinees are scheduled for April 26 and May 3 at 2 p.m. The box office is open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets for each performance are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students aged 5 to 18. Evening performances begin at 7:30 and matinees at 2 p.m.
