Three organizations have been chosen as finalists to compete for up to $15,000 in Casper College’s inaugural SparkTank project. The public is invited to attend the SparkTank Final Pitch Night Friday, April 11, from 5-7 p.m. in the Chapman Lobby.

The three finalists competing for the SparkTank funds are the Self Help Center, Sleep-in-Heavenly-Peace Casper Chapter, and the Iris Clubhouse.

Twenty-two nonprofit organizations based in Natrona County applied for the chance to win up to $15,000.

According to Rachel Macy, project coordinator, all three finalists will present their cases to a student judges panel. At the end of the event, the judges will announce the winning nonprofits and award the grant proceeds.

Semifinalists included the Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care, David Street Station, the Casper Artists’ Collective, Jason’s Friends Foundation, Rising Phoenix Therapeutic Community and Rescue Center, ART321 Casper Artists’ Guild, the Children’s Advocacy Project Inc, the Nicolaysen Art Museum, 307 Dance Academy, and The Casper Children’s Theatre.

Other organizations that applied are Wyoming Health Fairs, CrimeStoppers of Central Wyoming, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming, the Central Wyoming Trails Alliance, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Natrona County Safe Ride, the Casper Baseball Club and Casper Crush, the Unaccompanied Students Initiative, and the Casper Community Greenhouse Project.

The event is free, and heavy appetizers will be served. To RSVP, contact Macy at rachel.macy@caspercollege.edu. The Chapman Lobby is on the second floor of the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center on the Casper College campus.

Casper College SparkTank is possible thanks to a $10,000 grant from the John P. Ellbogen Foundation and internal funds through Casper College. The Casper College Foundation, Casper College School of Business and Industry, and the Casper College Economics Club sponsor Casper College SparkTank. The project is led by Casper College students active in the Casper College Economics Club sponsored by Jim Chappelow, business instructor. Casper College SparkTank helps students as they learn and implement the philanthropic process, which mirrors venture capital models to benefit local nonprofits.
