36th Annual Wellness Conference April 3-4

The 36th Annual Casper College Wellness Conference will be held April 3-4 in the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center, Robert and Ruth Dove Conference Center, Room 225. Thursday’s sessions are free and open to the public, and no registration is required. Friday’s workshops have a registration fee and require preregistration.

Hosted and organized by the Casper College Wellness Center, this year’s conference will examine various wellness topics. Presentations will begin Thursday and Friday at 9 a.m.

Thursday’s sessions include “Self-care Practices Throughout Your Career: Nurturing the Nurturers” and will be presented by Christine Vencill, Noelle Romer, and Haley Lensert at 9 a.m. At 10:30, Elliott Orrin Hinkle will present “Supporting and Affirming LGBTQIA2S+ Youth, Families, and Community.”

The third session, “Understanding Personality Styles: Strengthening Connections and Inspiring Inner Wellness,” by Gabrielle Howery and Kelsey Giroux-Maule, will begin at 1 p.m. “Polyvagal Theory/Somatic Trauma Informed Care Yoga and Meditation,” by Candace Machado, will follow at 2:30.

The Friday sessions are designed for mental health professionals, according to Erin Ford, director of counseling. The cost for the three sessions is $35, and preregistration is required to attend the three sessions.

The first session will begin at 9 a.m. Amanda DeDiego will present “Navigating Ethical Practice in the Current Clinical Landscape.” The second session, starting at 1 p.m., is titled “Harnessing the 7 Affective Circuits: A Neuroscientific Approach to Case Conceptualization and Intervention” by Brandon Bishop. The final session will begin at 2:30 p.m. and feature Karol Santistevan and Tisa Sucher with their presentation “Helping People Live Life to the Fullest.”

According to Ford, those attending both days of the conference will receive 12 continuing education units. Each attendee is responsible for their own lunch, but refreshments will be provided throughout the conference.
