Start date changes to March 18 for CMA course

The start date for the clinical medical assistant or CMA course offered through the Casper College Workforce Development program start date has changed to Tuesday, March 18.
The CMA course is designed for those wanting to support physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of a medical office. During the three-month program, students will learn how to prepare patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy, and the cardiac life cycle.
Those certified will qualify for entry-level positions in the medical field, which can result in jobs that offer higher wages and benefits. In Wyoming, the average starting salary is $38,730, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2023 wage data external site.
The course will finish on June 12. It will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “These times for the class were chosen to accommodate full-time students and those who may be employed and following an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday work schedule,” said Erik Christensen, workforce training specialist.
