Project management class for non-project managers announced

A new class for managers who aren’t project managers themselves but need to learn about project management will take place on Thursday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“This Zoom class is an overview of the critical concepts for those who don’t manage projects but would like to learn more about project management or who are just getting started,” noted Sarah Schneider, workforce training specialist.
Topics to be covered include learning a project manager’s role, knowing how to adjust when a project goes off track, and all the basics to initiate, plan, and close projects. Key concepts to be covered include key project management concepts, defining scope, creating a work breakdown structure, risk, cost and quality management, and retrospectives of lessons learned.
“The goal of this class is to set the stage for a basic understanding of what project management is, why it’s important, and how it’s done,” said Schneider.
According to Schneider, the class is taught by Ashleigh Clark, project and engagement manager, coach, and consultant with extensive experience leading projects and implementing process improvements for IT, data and analytics, and research teams across industries.
Registration for “Project Management for the Non-Project Manager” closes at 12 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. The class cost is $200, and students will be sent a class link after registration.
