Ceramicist Mike Olson’s “On the Wall” exhibit is currently on display at the Mildred Zahradnicek Gallery. The final day of the exhibit is Thursday, Dec. 5.

“On the Wall” presents an array of the artist’s work that has brought him a sense of calm and has created time for quiet reflection. According to Olson, his work “… derives from ancient and primitive artifacts, tools, ritualistic objects, and nature. They reflect a solemn and elegant quality, a timeless mysticism and awe that certain rocks, bones, and ruins share. Like the meditative process, they are both fragile and precious.”

Olson came to Wyoming in 1992 after his honorable discharge from the military. He received multiple degrees from Casper College, a BFA from the University of North Dakota and an MFA from Wichita State University. He has taught ceramics at Casper College full time since 2005 and has been a ceramicist for over 30 years.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Mildred Zahradnicek Gallery is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday and is located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.
