A fun-filled time is promised at the pops-styled concert “Music Rocks!” on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Concert Hall. Three musical groups, the Casper College Band, the Casper College Collegiate Chorale, and the Casper College Contemporary Singers, will perform.

Both the Collegiate Chorale and the Contemporary Singers are under the direction of Zachary Vreeman, DMA. The Collegiate Chorale will begin the concert with songs by Jacques Arcadelt, Stephen Foster, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, and others.

Following the chorale will be the Contemporary Singers who will perform two songs: one by Billy Joel — “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)” and “True Colors” by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. “True Colors” will feature soloists Madison Billings and Josh Simon.

The College Band will close out the concert with music from John Phillip Sousa, Lennon’s “Imagine,” Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E-flat,” and others. The College Band is under the direction of Joshua Mietz, DMA.

“Zach and I wanted to create a pops concert to perform rock and roll music through our more classical-oriented ensembles. For the College Band, we also want to show that some of our original repertoire — the Holst “First Suite” and Sousa marches — ‘rock’ in that they are really cool and remain classics despite being over a century old,” said Mietz.

Members of the Collegiate Chorale include sopranos Katie Baumstarck, Danica Boyce, Emma Gustaf, Ruby Martin, Jillian Mascarenas, Emma Mayfield, Micah Hebbert, and Hailey Hixson. The altos are comprised of Billings, Olivia Judkins, Jordan Napier, Lindsey Scott, and Tash Wyse. Tenors include Eian Eco, Owen LaCount, Kadyn Riley, Simon, Karen Sandoval, and Lex Plakki. Basses include Sophia Casner, Jackson Cochran, Collin Jones, Kevin Kaske, Josh Knutson, Marcos Martinez, and Eddie Siebert.

The Contemporary Singers include Billings, Boyce, Cole Cooper, Gustaf, Hebbert, LaCount, Jeremy Rich, Scott, and Simon.

Bassoon: Richard Turner and Mala Stagg. Saxophones: William Weader, MaKayla Schroeder, Joshua Robles, Dylan Mazzanti, Aidan Murphy, and Jaromiah Taylor.
