CC Volleyball hopes to get back on track at home opener
When the season started, the Casper College Lady T-Birds were ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA Top 20 preseason poll. They won their first two matches at the McCook Invitational, which gave them a record of 2-0. However, that original 2-0 record is now 2-14, which Head Coach Angel Sharman isn’t too happy with. “This team is more than capable of winning, but they just haven’t gotten in complete sync yet,” she said.
The Birds will take on the No. 4 team in the nation, the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen, this Friday beginning at 6 p.m. Currently, the Plainswomen have a 13-4 record. Then, on Saturday afternoon at 2, they face the Miles Community College Pioneers, who sit at 7-7.
Hometown crowds can have a way of sparking a team to play their best. Sharman hopes that the team will incorporate what they do in practice into the games this weekend. “We need to be able to start and finish games on a consistent basis,” said Sharman.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for those 60+ and students aged 13-17. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door. The “Swede” Erickson Thunderbird Gym is on the Casper College campus.
