The Werner Wildlife Museum’s popular summer activity program, “Summer Animal House for Children,” will begin Thursday, June 6.

The other two sessions for this year’s edition will be held on Thursdays, July 11 and Aug. 1. Animal House is free and designed for elementary school children and their families.

All programs are taught by Werner Wildlife Assistant Eileen Lemm. June’s “It’s a Camouflaged World” program will allow children to learn about the behaviors and appearances adapted by animals to help them survive in the wild. Smokey Bear will also participate.

In July, Lemm will discuss where animals live and the significance of their surroundings in “The Importance of Habitat Big and Small.”

August’s program, “The Brilliance of Bird Beaks,” will allow children to see the wide range of differences between bird beaks and learn why a water bird’s mouthpiece differs from that of a bird who is an insect eater.

All programs begin at 1 p.m. and are held in the museum’s backyard. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch to enjoy before or after the approximately 30-minute program.

Reservations for large groups are appreciated, but walk-in families and individuals are more than welcome. For additional information, call the Werner at 307-235-2108 or drop by 405 East 15th Street, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
