A new scholarship has been established to honor Bernard Ambrosino, who was the owner and head chef of the Silver Fox Steakhouse. The scholarship marks the first for Casper College hospitality and tourism majors.

The scholarship was recently endowed, thanks in part to a $10,000 donation from Dick and Addie Wagner. All contributions to the Bernard Ambrosino Hospitality Scholarship will be matched dollar for dollar from an allocation by the state of Wyoming.

“The Bernard Ambrosino Hospitality Scholarship honors a man who was a pillar in the Casper community for 44 years. As an executive chef and owner of the Silver Fox Steakhouse in Casper, Wyoming, Bernard’s commitment to the community was displayed through his genuine smile and acts of kindness to both staff and patrons,” said Denise Bressler, executive director of the Casper College Foundation. “This scholarship was established to help students pursue a career in the hospitality industry,” Bressler noted.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the generous donors who established this scholarship in Bernard’s memory. Thanks to their support, Casper College’s Hospitality and Tourism program will continue to flourish, ensuring future students have the resources they need to honor Bernard’s legacy of exceptional hospitality,” said Ginny Garner, hospitality and marketing instructor at Casper College.

Two Bernard Ambrosino Hospitality Scholarships in the amount of $1500 each will be awarded beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

To qualify for consideration, a student must be a business, hospitality, or tourism major working on a degree, with preference given to Pathways Innovation Center culinary students or current or past employees of the Silver Fox Steakhouse. In addition, the student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, take at least six credit hours, be a Wyoming resident, and demonstrate a need to qualify for the scholarship.
