An array of fun and unique classes is offered for April through Casper College Community Education.

April courses include “A Guide to AI,” “Science Fair Classics,” “Stenciled Spray Coating Finishes,” “Hot Stuff: Glassblowing,” “Greek Cookies and Cake,” “Paint. Connect. Reflect.,” and more. “Seize the chance to discover something novel, learn a new skill, and embark on a fresh hobby with our exciting class options,” said Zhanna Gallegos, community education coordinator at Casper College.

According to Gallegos, “A Guide to AI” will allow students to explore artificial intelligence and large language models. Instructor Cody Sullivan noted that topics to be covered include AI’s impact on various industries, AI ethics, and ethical AI deployment practices. In addition, tools and resources will be examined through a project demonstration, and students will learn about the available software and platforms. The class will meet on Wednesday, April 3-17, from 6-8 p.m.

If you remember the days of old-school science fairs with fondness, then you won’t want to miss “Science Fair Classics.” “During the class, students will roll up their sleeves and get a little messy with some of the world’s most iconic science experiments cherished throughout generations,” said Gallegos. Taught by the staff of The Science Zone, you’ll explode and expand your STEM horizons and unearth captivating experiments you’ve yet to explore. As a bonus, the class is kid-friendly, and children 6 and older are also welcome to attend with an adult. Each participant must register and pay for this class individually. The class will occur on Saturday, April 6, from 9-11 a.m., and all supplies are provided.

“Stenciled Spray Coating Finishes” will allow participants to master the art of KG GunKote spray finish to customize both firearms and decorative insulated cups. Essential techniques, including stenciling for camouflage and logo/decorative designs on tumblers, will be taught, along with the tools and safety measures needed to create flawless and durable finishes on many surfaces. From enhancing firearm appearance and performance to creating stunning cup designs, students will gain skills to transform their projects into art, according to instructor Toyon Wiggs. Tools and insulated tumblers for practice will be available for student use throughout the class, held on Saturday, April 6 and 13, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Students enrolled in “Hot Stuff: Glassblowing” will discover the exhilarating art of glassblowing. Taught by the staff of PH Glass Studio, you will learn the fundamentals and how to properly manipulate molten glass into sculptures or functional art. Thinking creatively, you will fabricate items beyond your expectations, including marbles, pendants, latticino, marias, and more. Supplies, tools, and safety equipment will be provided for the class, which is suitable for beginners. “Hot Stuff: Glassblowing” will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, April 9-18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

For dessert lovers, “Greek Cookies and Cake” invites you to indulge in the art of Greek desserts with instructor Greg Kapeles. Students will learn to make cookies and cakes using authentic recipes and ingredients and explore the variations and adaptations of these Greek sweets and how they are incorporated into cultural traditions. All supplies will be provided for the four-week class, which will be held on Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30, April 10 through May 1.

Finally, participants are invited to attend an inspiring painting class that fosters self-discovery and community in “Paint. Connect. Reflect.,” taught by Sara Bohl. Students will reflect on their painting experience and connect it to aspects of their personal lives as they explore acrylic on canvas, including color mixing, various techniques, and idea and image creation. Finally, students will develop skills for self-growth and then share their creative journey with others. Supplies are provided for the class to be held on Tuesday, April 23 through May 7, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Community education offers noncredit courses for personal enrichment and lifelong learning for people 16 and older. To sign up or for more information on these and other classes, go here or call 307-268-3401.
