Casper College Band in concert Friday, Oct. 27

The Casper College Band presents “Songs of Fall and Winter” on Friday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Concert Hall.

Under the direction of Joshua R. Mietz, DMA, the concert will feature six pieces from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Joining the band will be collaborative pianist Paula Flynn.

Compositions to be performed include two by John Philip Sousa: “Esprit de Corps” and “University of Nebraska.” The other four pieces come from contemporary composers and include “October” by Eric Whitacre; “A Tuning Piece: Songs of Fall and Winter” by David Maslanka; “Autumn Walk” by Julian Work; and “A Mother of a Revolution” by Omar Thomas.

Playing for the Casper College Band are Jenna Farley, Delores Thornton, and Ashley Terry on flute; Isaac Miller on oboe; Alexandra Vincent, Dan Spangler, Samantha Boutte, Sydney Thomas, and Hannah Kerkes on clarinet; Richard Turner on bassoon; Jackson Chitwood, Makayla Schroeder, Diego Cuevas, Tyler Kessel, and Dylan Mazzanti on saxophone; Mike Pryczynski, Virginia Hazen, and Sabrina Hamner on horn; Ozzy Ness, Marc Heward, Eternity Thunder-Tophia, Steve Johnston, and Sean Franklin on trumpet; Titus Vreeman on euphonium; Ethan Green, Walker Wyckoff, and Kelly Vandamme on bass; Joshua Knutson and Lucas Donato on percussion; and Travian Lyman on piano.

The concert is free and open to all. The Wheeler Concert Hall is located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.
