American favorites to be played at next CC concert

The Casper College Concert Band will present “American Favorites” on Friday, March 24, at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Concert Hall. The concert, which will feature a variety of composers, is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Joshua R. Mietz, DMA, the concert will feature “Revival” by John Philip Sousa; “First Suite in E-flat for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1” by Gustav Holst; Johannes Brahms’ “Blessed Are They from “German Requiem;” Howard Hanson’s “Chorale and Alleluia;” William Schuman’s “George Washington Bridge;” and Aaron Copland’s “The Promise of Living” from “The Tender Land.”

The concert will end with Sousa’s “El Capitan,” featuring guest conductor Darren Divine, Ph.D., Casper College president.

The concert band is comprised of 30 musicians from both the community and Casper College playing flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, bass, and percussion.

The Wheeler Concert Hall is located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.
