Comedy ends 2021-2022 season at Krampert
“Noises Off,” a comedy play within a play, is the final production of the 2021-2022 theater season at Casper College. The comedy will take place April 21-23 and 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. and April 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.
“I can’t think of a better time for a laugh! We’ve all heard the phrase ‘laughter is the best medicine,’ and I couldn’t agree more. In the face of the challenges we’ve had due to COVID-19, changed schedules and canceled events, we at Casper College Theatre and Dance have restored our humor by working on ‘Noises Off,’” said Richard Burk, director.
“Noises Off” takes a fond look at the follies of theater folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss, and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. This funny comedy features a play within a play as a theater troupe tries to keep it together between the last dress rehearsal, backstage a month later, and the final production.
“Noises Off” was nominated for four Tony Awards: Best Play, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Direction in 1984. In 2001, the play was nominated for Best Revival of a Play and Best Actress in its Broadway revival. The 2016 Broadway revival saw the show garner additional Tony Award nominations for Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
