The Casper College Pharmacy Technology program has a few openings for the 2019-2020 school year.
Pharmacy technicians assist and support licensed pharmacists in health care agencies and retail settings. “At Casper College, we stress the importance of medication safety and the pharmacy technician’s role in the patient-care process,” said Sheri Roumell, pharmacy technology instructor.
Students can receive either a certificate or associate degree in pharmacy technician. The U.S. Department of Labor noted that the job outlook for pharmacy technicians is better than average and employment in this field is expected to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026. In Wyoming, the median yearly salary for pharmacy technicians as of May 2018 was $36,910 or $17.75 an hour, according to the Department of Labor.
The Casper College Pharmacy Technology program is the only accredited program in the state of Wyoming that is available online and on campus and can be completed in as little as 10 months. According to Roumell, students “… can select experiential sites in Casper and around the state of Wyoming. Locations include hospitals, retail outlets, long-term care facilities, home health care agencies, nuclear pharmacies, and compounding pharmacies.”
