T-Bird Volleyball Players Recognized for Academic Performance
Eight Casper College volleyball players have been recognized regionally and nationally for their academic performance during the 2016-2017 school year at Casper College.
The eight, Annie Deininger, Cave Creek, Arizona; Katja Kohler, Villingen, Germany; Louisa Krams, Schashagen, Germany; Olivia L’ami, Casper; Ivana Maric’, Kraljevo, Serbia; Sydney Nielsen, Kamloops British Columbia; Jessica Pilivi, West Jordan, Utah; and Alayna Sheldon, Loveland, Colorado, were all recognized as Academic All-Region for a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
Nationally the players were honored in three categories as Academic All-Americans. Krams received the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence with a 4.0 GPA. Both L’ami and Kohler were recognized with the Superior Academic Achievement Award for a GPA of 3.8-3.99. According to Angel Sharman, head volleyball coach and athletic director, this is the second year in a row that L’ami has received the award. Finally, Deininger, Nielsen, Maric’, and Pilivi all received the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award for a 3.6-3.79 GPA.
“I am very proud of all of these players as they achieved this distinction while maintaining a busy schedule of practice and traveling, which is quite a feat,” said Sharman, adding, “Their determination to reach this goal is admirable, and they are good role models.”
