Divine Named New President of Casper College
Casper College has selected Darren Divine, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs/acting vice president of student affairs of the Community College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, to serve as the next president of Casper College.
The Casper College Board of Trustees selected Divine through a unanimous vote today at a special board meeting scheduled to discuss personnel. Divine is one of three candidates who visited the campus in late March.
“Casper College is very fortunate to find such a qualified candidate as Dr. Divine. He has a passion for education and for the success of each and every student. He knows maintaining a superior college is an important element of a successful and vibrant community. His broad experience as an administrator bodes well for his success at Casper College,” said Susan Miller, Casper College trustee and chair of the presidential search committee.
Divine brings more than 18 years of higher education experience to Casper College. He has served as faculty for the University of Nevada at Las Vegas as well as the Community College of Southern Nevada. He has also served as department chair of biological sciences and associate vice president of academic affairs at the College of Southern Nevada previous to his current role.
Divine holds a Ph.D. in biological science from the University of Nevada, a master of science in wildlife science from New Mexico State University, and a bachelor of science in biology from the University of New Mexico.
Divine will begin on July 1, 2015 and succeed Walter Nolte, Ph.D. who announced his retirement in August of 2014. Nolte retires June 30 after 11 years of service to the college and community. Divine’s salary for fiscal year 2015-2016 will be $190,000.
