Aviation

Earn your associate degree or certificate in aviation while also working toward a commercial pilot’s license through the aviation program, a partnership between Casper College and Rising Wings Aviation Inc.

What are the features of Casper’s program?

The primary goal is to provide students with educational opportunities that could lead to future employment in commercial aviation.

Rising Wings Aviation is a flight school located at Natrona County International Airport in Casper, WY. Rising Wings Aviation has a fleet of four aircraft which includes one technologically advanced Cirrus Aircraft equipped with an airframe parachute system for ultimate flight safety. Rising Wings has a fully-staffed flight instruction department to meet every student’s flying schedule.

Academic coursework takes place at Casper College. Students are required to schedule a minimum of three lessons per week but this is a not a limitation for those wanting to advance faster. Students will meet with a Rising Wings Aviation instructor upon enrollment and set their schedule for that semester. Ground school training takes place online. Full-time students should complete the program at a lower cost than competitor flight schools in four semesters and be prepared for employment as a commercial pilot.

As the industry is demanding a push toward computer and visual based training, we no longer hold formal sit-down classes. Students work online through our material and meet face-to-face during their scheduled weekly lessons for flight and any additional ground instruction needed. This has proven to be a more successful route as we have been testing it over the past few years.

If your dream is to fly, you owe it to yourself to visit Casper College and Rising Wings Aviation.

What can I do with this major?

Employment info

Possible job titles include agricultural pilot, airline pilot, corporate pilot, air taxi pilot, flight instructor, and charter service pilot, among others.

Boeing conducted a study about the job market outlook for the next 20 years. The pilot industry is in a major shortage and pilots are needed quicker than they can be trained. This has increased salaries across the industry as well as faster upgrades and movement into larger faster airplanes.

What are the special admission requirements, if any?

International students must be a U.S. citizen in order to enroll in the flight training program. This is in congruence with SEVIS regulations.

Are there additional costs?

The degree program has the standard Casper College tuition and fee expenses plus additional costs to cover the actual flight training. Flight training depends on aircraft hourly rates which cover the aircraft, fuel, insurance, and instructor costs. These costs are paid directly to Rising Wings Aviation Inc. Please contact Rising Wings for info on minimum costs.

Costs to Rising Wings Aviation (not including CC tuition, room, and board) to complete Private, Instrument, and Commercial licenses often exceeds $61K. Make sure to discuss financial aid opportunities with Rising Wings Aviation as well as the CC Financial Aid department.
