COVID-19 guidance for 2024-25 academic year
Updated: August 20, 2024
Everyone should continue to follow current guidance to protect themselves and others, as they see appropriate. Other precautions you can personally take to protect yourself are to social distance from others, avoid crowds, avoid poorly ventilated spaces, cover coughs and sneezes, wash hands often, wear a mask, and follow CDC travel guidance
Below is the guidance that Casper College is following from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
The CDC has updated its recommendations for how people can protect themselves from respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. The new guidance brings a unified approach to addressing risks from a range of common respiratory viral illnesses, such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV, which can cause significant health impacts and strain on hospitals and healthcare workers.*
If you test positive for COVID-19 or another respiratory virus, the updated guidance recommends you should isolate until you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and your symptoms are improving overall. You can resume normal activities after the above is met. You are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as handwashing, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing, wearing a well-fitting mask, and keeping a distance from others. At this time, you will need to use sick leave for any absence from work.**
The Casper-Natrona County Health Department follows the CDC recommendations for COVID-19. For more information, please visit their website: https://casperpublichealth.org/covid-19/

**Employees who are sick must use their sick leave for their absence. If you are a new employee hired within the last 90 days and do not have enough sick leave for your absence and/or annual leave for your absence or you are a faculty member who does not accumulate sick leave, Human Resources (extension 2727) will work with you to have time donated for your absence.
