Labs Help Students Succeed

The Wall Street Journal reported that the average American fears giving a speech to an audience more than facing spiders, sharp needles, high places, and zombie attacks. Yet in a recent survey of hundreds of business leaders, conducted on behalf of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, 93 percent ranked the ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form as more important than an undergraduate’s major when considering workforce development skills.

To address this dilemma, the Casper College Communication Department offers private tutoring by communication experts for students, faculty and local residents in their Oral Communication Lab (OCL). Services include, but are not limited to, assistance with topic selection, speech development, enhanced research skills, crafting effective introductions and or conclusions, creation of appealing visual aids, and of course top-notch tips for mastering speech anxiety and developing an engaging delivery style. In addition, the OCL staff has assisted with interview preparation, seminar presentations, corporate trainings, and political speeches.

No need to face the anxiety of preparing for that oral presentation alone. We are here to help you overcome your anxiety whether it is triggered at the preparation or presentation stage. As for spiders and zombies, that’s another matter.
