New tournament debuts at Casper College Thursday

The Crossover Classic, a new women’s basketball tournament at Casper College, will begin on Thursday, Jan. 8 and run through Saturday, Jan. 11, at the “Swede” Erickson Thunderbird Gymnasium.

Three games will be held each day. Thursday will feature the McCook Community College Knights against the Western Wyoming Community College Lady Mustangs. McCook’s record is 9-5, and Western’s is 11-4. The game begins at 2 p.m.

At 4 p.m., the Gillette College Pronghorns, 10-5, take on the Lady Cougars of Western Nebraska Community College, 12-3. The day ends at 6 p.m. with the Lady Thunderbirds, 10-5, taking on the Otero College Rattlers, 1-13

The first game begins on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Mustangs vs. the Cougars. The 3:30 game features the Rattlers vs. the Pronghorns. The day ends at 5:30 as the Thunderbirds take on the Knights.

The tournament concludes on Saturday with a noon game featuring Western Wyoming vs. Otero College and McCook playing Gillette at 2. The tournament’s final match features the Thunderbirds taking on the Cougars at 6 p.m.

Casper College men play two games

The Casper College men, 11-4, will also host two games: one on Friday, Jan. 10, against Western Nebraska, 5-8, at 7:30 p.m. and then on Saturday against the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes, 2-10, at 4 p.m.

Ticket info

Tickets are $6 for adults 18 and older, $4 for students 13-17 and seniors 60 plus, and children 12 and under are free. A ticket is valid for all three games on that day only. Tickets are available at the door.

The Erickson Thunderbird Gymnasium is located on the Casper College campus.
