Three of Casper College’s athletic teams have been ranked in the NJCAA preseason polls.

“Casper College is one of only six programs to have its men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball teams ranked in the NJCAA Top 20 preseason polls,” said Christopher Lorenzen, director of public relations.

The rankings are as follows: men’s soccer No. 10, women’s soccer No. 16, and women’s volleyball No. 16. Interestingly, Casper is one of only six teams to have both soccer teams and the volleyball team ranked in the top 20.

The other five teams include Salt Lake Community College: No., 4, No. 6, and No. 4; Arizona Western College: No. 3, No. 5, and No. 20; Barton County Community College: No. 5, No. 17, and No. 17; Eastern Florida State College: No. 9, No. 2, and No. 19; and Dayton State College: No. 13, No. 8, No. 14.

The season promises to be exciting for all three teams. Last year, the men’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams traveled to nationals after winning their respective Region 9 tournaments. The women’s soccer team took first in the regular season with a record of 13-2-2. Unfortunately, the team lost in the Region 9 semifinal during a penalty kick shootout. The women, however, ended the season ranked No. 14 in the nation.
