Dr. Laura E. Wilson is the Curation of Paleontology at the Sternberg Museum and Associate Professor of Geosciences at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She earned her M.S. from Montana State University studying taphonomy and paleoecology of terrestrial deposits from the Late Cretaceous Hell Creek Formation of Montana. In 2012, she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she studied the paleobiology and paleoecology of hesperornithiform birds from the Western Interior Seaway of North America. Laura’s current research focuses on the vertebrate paleontology and paleoecology of the Western Interior Seaway – continuing her exploration of the ecological role of hesperornithiforms and other marine vertebrates. She also studies bone histology to better understand the biology and ecology of extinct and extant vertebrates.
