ORBITERS, SATELLITES, ROVERS TOPIC OF CLASS
A class exploring orbiters, satellites, and rovers will be topics of the new Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Casper College class, “Out of this World III.”
“We continue to offer classes on space exploration and the universe due to the popularity of the class and instructor,” said Vicki Pollock, lifelong learning specialist for OLLI at Casper College. Pollock added that participants need not have taken the previous “Out of this World” classes to enjoy “Out of this World III.”
Andrew Young, Casper College physics instructor, will again lead the class, which will be held at the Casper Planetarium on Fridays, from 4 to 5 p.m. September 13 through October 11.
In addition to the space equipment, Young will also cover the space mission developments from 2001 to the present, according to Pollock.
The registration deadline for “Out of this World III” is Tuesday, Sept. 10. For more information or to register, contact Pollock at 307-268-2097.
||DOG AGILITY TOPIC OF OLLI CLASS
The sport of agility will be the topic of “Jump Into Agility” (OLLI 5030) a fun and informative OLLI class set to begin on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.
“Dog owners of all ages and physical abilities and their canine companions can and do enjoy the sport of agility, which both purebred and mixed breed dogs can excel in,” said Vicki Pollock, lifelong learning specialist. “We thought it would be fun to have someone who participates with her dogs in the sport to teach a class on the topic,” Pollock added.
According to Pollock, Megan Schaffer will provide a brief history of agility. She will then have a variety of dog breeds at various training levels demonstrate their skills. “Not only is this an interesting class, but we hope that some of those taking the class will discover the many benefits of participating in agility for both themselves and their dog,” Pollock noted, and then added “We are also asking all those who register to not bring their own dog(s) to class.”
In addition to the first class, which will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., a field trip to the Natrona County Fairgrounds Arena will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 8 a.m.
Registration for “Jump Into Agility” is now going on. The registration deadline for the class is Monday, Sept. 23. For more information or to register, contact Pollock at 307-268-2097.
