1. I would like to talk to someone in admissions about my career options; is there anyone available?
An admissions representative will counsel you on the admissions process and career programs available at Casper College. Please call ahead to schedule a time to visit with a representative, as this will ensure they have enough time to meet with you. Depending on the time of the tour request, an appointment will also be made for you with a faculty advisor. Faculty appointments must be given two to four days to arrange. Appointments can also include a visit with one of the Career Center staff. The Career Services Department can help you determine your strengths and discuss possible career options that fit those strengths.

2. Can a tour be given on the weekend?
NO – generally tours are only scheduled Monday – Friday and will be offered beginning at 10 am and 2:00 PM (NOTE: Tours on the weekend can be arranged for special groups and athletics.)

3. I would like to see the residence hall/apartments; how can I set-up an appointment to do this?
Dorms and apartments are not always available for viewing. Call an admissions representative at 307-268-3605 to schedule a campus tour appointment. If a room and apartment are available for viewing, we will include that on the campus tour.

4. Is there a campus visit day planned for seniors or juniors?
YES – there are campus visit days planned each calendar year for juniors and seniors or other first time college students. There is a general campus visit day each fall and spring semester at Casper College. We do offer some specialized campus visit days in the spring so please check the Visit Us page on the Casper College website.

5. My son/daughter has a learning disability, can we still come see the campus and receive help with the admissions process?
YES – the admissions representative will be happy to counsel you about the admissions process. An appointment with the disability services coordinator can also be arranged for you during your campus tour. The general campus tour will also include visiting the learning labs: Math, Oral Communication, Writing and English Centers.

6. My son/daughter has applied to Casper College but they have not registered for classes. Can we get a campus tour and register for classes?
Yes – campus tours are available from the enrollment services office. But students cannot register for classes until they have met the admissions requirements and been advised by a faculty advisor. If admission requirements have been met and an advisor is available you may be advised, provided our registration period is open.

7. How do I apply to Casper College?
You can apply online at www.caspercollege.edu or in person in the Enrollment Services office (GW 350), or by mail. You may call the Enrollment Services office to request a paper admissions application be sent to you.

8. What's the difference between degree and non-degree seeking?
A degree seeking student is one that wishes to pursue a degree from Casper College. Degree seeking students are eligible for financial aid assistance and will be assigned a faculty advisor. You must be a degree seeking student in order to receive a degree from us. A non-degree seeking student does not have to complete the admissions process but will be held accountable for course prerequisites. The non-degree student will not receive any faculty advisement, is not eligible for financial aid, and cannot be awarded a degree.

9. Where do I send transcripts?
If you are an applicant to Casper College you will need to have official transcripts sent from the high school you graduated from, from the GED center you graduated from, and all colleges you have attended. These can be sent directly to Enrollment Services at 125 College Drive Casper, WY 82601. Transcripts must be delivered directly to Casper College in a sealed envelope from the institution previously attended for them to be considered official.

10. Will you accept a faxed transcript?
We can use a faxed transcript as official if the transcript is stamped "Official faxed transcript."

11. I'm homed schooled, can I still be admitted and would I still need to get you a transcript?
YES! Students can be admitted to Casper College after completing a home school program. You will be admitted by your placement test scores, not your transcripts. We will need to see your transcripts to verify you completed your home school program.

12. Will my credits transfer to Casper College?
Credits will transfer to Casper College as long as the school you attended was accredited. If the course taken at the previous college is the same in content as a course at Casper College, we will award it equivalent credit. If not, it will be elective credit.

13. Do I have to take the ACT or SAT? What is the COMPASS test?
No you do not have to take the ACT or SAT. Test scores are not used to admit students. However, they are used to place students in classes; Students can take and submit ACT or SAT or COMPASS scores. The COMPASS test is another test that can be taken to determine placement.

14. Where and when can I take the COMPASS test?
The COMPASS test is given on the Casper College campus in the Student Success Center, Gateway Building, room 350. Students should first go to the Accounting and Financial Management office, located in the Gateway Building, third floor, to pay their $10 fee. Upon paying they will receive a receipt that they will take to the Student Success Center, where they will be administered the test. You must present a picture ID to take the test.

Spring 2012 hours, NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY: Mon/Tue/Fri from 8AM to 2PM, Wed from 11AM to 2PM. Students must start the test by 2 PM. Monday evenings at 5:30PM are by appointment only. Please call (307) 268-2089 to schedule an appointment.

The test is not timed and students may use a calculator, which will be provided by the Student Success Center. The results are given immediately after the test. If you are not from the Casper area, but would like to take the COMPASS test, check with your local college to see if they administer the test. If you take the test on another campus be sure to have your scores sent to Casper College.

15. I'm not admitted, why?
Students are typically not admitted because the required documents have not been received. The application process takes between 10-15 business days. To be admitted students must submit the application for admission, an official high school transcript or GED test scores, and official college transcripts from institutions attended. Prior to registration students should also submit proof of the measles, mumps & rubella immunization and ACT/SAT or COMPASS scores.

16. What do I need to do to register for a class; how and where do I register?
Students should first determine if they will be degree seeking or non-degree seeking. New degree seeking students should complete the admission requirements, then they will be invited to attend registration and orientation prior to their start term. Non-degree seeking students should choose their course, verify they meet the prerequisite, and register using the non-degree seeking registration form. (Please see FAQ #8 to determine if you are degree seeking or non-degree seeking).

17. When can I register if I am a new student?
A degree-seeking student can register for classes if they have been provisionally admitted AND have submitted proof of measles, mumps & rubella immunization and ACT/SAT or COMPASS test scores. Students who have applied will be invited to meet with a faculty advisor during an advising/registration appointment. Non-degree seeking students can register anytime after registration opens for a semester. Registration remains open until the 5th day of class. Early registration is encouraged for best course selection.

18. I have been admitted on academic probation -- Why and what does that mean?
If a student is admitted on academic probation, it means they were admitted with less than a 2.0 GPA. If the student does not earn a 2.0 or better for two consecutive semesters while on academic probation, they are placed on academic suspension.

19. What do I need to do to register for a class; how and where do I register?
Most new degree seeking students will attend a registration day and orientation prior to their start term. Continuing students are invited to meet with their academic advisor each semester on advising day in order to prepare for the upcoming semester. The academic advisor will remove the registration hold and provide the date and time the student is able to register. Students may register online using Web Advisor if they are current degree or non-degree seeking students. Students may also register for classes at the counter of the Enrollment Services office, third floor of the Gateway Building.

20. How do I register on Web Advisor?
A student must meet with a faculty advisor who will then share the time, date and login information with the student. Web Advisor is accessed via the Casper College webpage under the current students tab. Once it is your time to register, login using the information your advisor provided. Once logged in, click the students tab. On the right hand side, you should see the 'Registration' menu. Click 'register for sections.' If you and your advisor wrote down the exact department, course number and section or if you have the course synonym click the 'express registration.' If you do not know any of that information you may click 'search and register for sections.' Once you select all the courses you would like to register for, click okay. It will then ask you to take an action. Be sure to change all the course actions to 'register' and hit 'submit.' After submitting your schedule, the best thing to do is print your class schedule to ensure your registration went through.

21. What's my CC username and password?
A CC username and password is given to each currently registered student. New students must meet enrollment requirements before being assigned a CC username and password. The CC username and password can open Web Advisor for you, your email, remote access to library databases, Moodle and computers in the Casper College computer labs.

22. The computer won't let me register. Why?
You most likely have a "hold" that does not allow you to register. The hold could be an unpaid balance at Casper College including tuition/fees, library books, parking tickets or lab fees. The hold could also be from the faculty advisor who has not yet seen you for advisement. To find out the specific type of hold on your account, please contact the Enrollment Services Office.

23. I have a hold on my account? What is it? How do I get it cleared?
Holds are placed on students' accounts for various reasons. You should call the Enrollment Services office to learn what type of hold has been placed on your account and how to get the hold cleared.

24. How do I add/drop/change a class?
A student may drop/add a class on Web Advisor until the 5th day of the regular fall/spring semesters. Summer session changes must take place before the summer session begins. To change a section of a class or add /audit a class after the 5th day of the semester, a student must visit the Enrollment Services office and fill out a change form. Students may drop a class on Web Advisor (if it is not your only class) during the semester until the Withdrawal Deadline. To withdraw from all your classes, see item #27.

25. Where do I get a new class schedule?
You may print your class schedule from Web Advisor or you may pick up them up from the information table in the Gateway Building during the first week of classes. Students can also get their class schedule from Enrollment Services with a photo ID.

26. I went to my class and nobody's there!
Check your class schedule on Web Advisor to see if there has been a change in room assignment. Updates, changes and notifications are made up to the first week of school. Students should check their Web Advisor account for a current listing of their class schedule. Make sure you are reading the abbreviations correctly. The class may have been canceled or moved to another location. Keep your mailing address and phone number up to date because a notification could have been sent or made regarding the changes.

27. How do I withdraw from all of my classes?
A student must fill out a complete withdrawal form that requires signatures from Accounting and Financial Management and Financial Aid before returning to the Enrollment Services office. If a student is a distance education student, they should call to request a form from the Enrollment Services office.

28. When is the last day to withdraw and do I get a refund?
Students should check the academic calendar in their planner, in the catalog or on the web (tuition/fee/withdrawal/refund webpage) for the exact date each semester. Refunds are only given during the first four weeks of each semester.

29. Is it better to withdraw and receive a "W" or to get an "F"?
It is the choice of the student. Both the "W" and "F" will appear on your transcript. "W's" do not affect your GPA. Staying in and receiving an "F" will not affect your full time status for that semester. Both will affect your financial aid. It is recommended that students verify the consequences of either decision with the Enrollment Services office before dropping a course.

30. I got a retention alert – who do I see?
You should see your instructor to discuss the actions you need to take. Remember the learning centers and tutoring programs on campus are free to use.

31. What's the difference between academic probation and academic suspension? Can I still attend school if my status reflects either?
Academic probation is the status of a student who has received less than a 2.0 GPA at another institution prior to enrolling or Casper College, or he/she has received less than a 2.0 GPA during a semester of enrollment at Casper College. Students who have completed two consecutive semesters with less than a 2.0 GPA are placed on suspension and asked to refrain from attendance for one semester. After "sitting-out" the student must also petition for re-admittance to Casper College.

32. Who's my advisor? Do I need an advisor?
All degree seeking students will be assigned a faculty advisor. If you have forgotten or do not know the name of your faculty advisor, it can be given to you in the Enrollment Services office or by the academic assistant.

33. How do I reach my instructor/advisor?
Students can call, email or visit their instructors/advisor in person. Contact information and faculty office hours are available on the web, in the course syllabus, or by asking the academic assistant or Enrollment Services Office.

34. How do I change my advisor, major, address, name?
You can change your advisor, major, and address by updating the information on Web Advisor or with a change of information form that is available in the Enrollment Services office. Your new faculty advisor must approve the advisor change. Therefore, you must obtain a change of information form from the Enrollment Services office and have your new advisor sign it. For a name change, you must submit the appropriate documentation to the Enrollment Services office.

35. I need verification of enrollment for my parents' insurance (health, car, etc); what do I need to do to get one?
Verification request forms are available in the Enrollment Services office. Verifications can be sent, faxed or picked up at the Enrollment Services office with a photo ID. Check to see if your insurance company has a special form or specific information they require in order to approve your verification of enrollment.

36. When are finals?
Finals are the last four days of each semester. A schedule of final exam times is generally available right after mid-term exams.

37. Am I still full time if I am ½ time at another college and ½ time at Casper College?
YES – you will need to have a consortium agreement sent and signed by the host institution; which is determined by the place of financial aid assistance.

38. What is a consortium agreement?
A consortium agreement is a form that you should obtain from your 'parent/home' school—the one you are actually seeking a degree with and receiving financial aid from. Once you have gotten the agreement form from your 'parent/home' school, you must submit it to the host institution where you are a 'visiting' student. After the host school has filled out the form, return it to your 'parent' school's Financial Aid Office so they can confirm the number of credit hours you are taking between both institutions. The consortium agreement allows your 'parent' school to verify if you are a part-time or full-time student, which can make a difference in the amount of financial aid you are eligible to receive.

39. Who fills out my consortium agreement?
The Enrollment Services office and/or a Financial Aid representative at your 'visiting' school will fill out the form, verifying how many credit hours you are registered for. Once they have completed the form, be sure to return it to the Financial Aid Office at your 'parent' school.

40. I've been here going to school for over a year now, how can I get in-state tuition?
Students are not eligible for residency and in-state tuition simply by being in Wyoming for one year as a student. Students can review the residency policy in the Casper College catalog available at www.caspercollege.edu/catalog to determine future eligibility.

41. How do I know what degree I can get?
Students should check with their advisor. They can also submit a degree evaluation request with Enrollment Services.

42. What do I need to do to find out if I am ready to graduate? How can I get a degree check and how long does it take?
Students can request a degree evaluation with the Enrollment Services office. It is recommended that students submit the request during their 3rd semester of attendance. Degree evaluations are completed and mailed typically 4-6 weeks after submission. The degree evaluation validates the courses completed and identifies those that are still needed to earn the degree you specify.

43. How do you apply for graduation?
Students apply for graduation during their final semester of attendance in the Enrollment Services office. Deadlines to apply are April 1st for spring, August 1st for summer and December 1st for fall. The application for graduation notifies us of your intent to graduate. Upon receiving the application, we will verify your eligibility for graduation.

44. Do I have to attend the graduation ceremony?
You do not have to attend the ceremony; however, we would like to help celebrate your success and accomplishment. The graduation ceremony is typically held in May but students who graduated in the fall or will graduate in the summer are welcome to attend. You will need to notify the Enrollment Services office of your intent to participate. By attending the graduation ceremony, students will be given one complimentary diploma cover. Students must purchase their gown from the bookstore or if borrowing a gown from someone else, they must notify Enrollment Services.

45. Has my diploma been mailed and where was it mailed to?
Diplomas are ordered after final grades are posted to your transcript and degree requirements have been met and verified. Diplomas are mailed to the address requested on the application for graduation approximately four to six weeks after the final semester of enrollment. The reason this takes so long is because the diplomas need to be ordered, received and signed before we can mail them out.

46. How do I get a Casper College transcript?
To request official transcripts FROM Casper College, you can come to Enrollment Services and fill out the pink transcript request form. Complete the form including the address where transcripts need to go and we'll send them directly there.

To request an official transcript, when you are not on-campus, you may obtain a transcript request form from the website. The easiest way to find the request form is to click on the A-Z index link on the top right corner of the Casper College home page. Next under 'A', click on Admissions Office. It should direct you to the Admissions page and under the picture there is a tab that says 'Forms'. Click on 'Forms' tab and you should be able to then click on Transcript Request. Fill out and email; or print, complete and return by fax or mail.

47. Do you fax official transcripts?
Yes, we will stamp it "Official Faxed Transcript" but it's up to the receiving school whether they consider it official or not.

48. The school I requested transcripts be sent to has not yet received them, why not?
We first need to check if your transcripts where sent (they may not have been done yet or you may have a hold preventing us from releasing them). If they were sent, we need to check when. Transcripts take time to get through the mail system-both from our school and their school. Once they reach the Admissions Office at the other school, the information needs to be coded into the database for retrieval. If they've had sufficient time and the receiving school says they haven't received them, we can send them again.

49. I know it is final exam week but I need my transcripts sent now – why can't you send them?
We cannot send partial transcripts – they need to include all work. Once we start to receive grades for the current semester, some but not all may show on the transcripts. By waiting until after finals, it saves you from having to request it twice and us from having to send it twice.

50. Will my credits transfer from Casper College to another institution?
Most credits will transfer from Casper College to other institutions without a problem. Casper College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission North Central Region. However, it is up to the school you are transferring to whether or not they accept your credits from Casper College.

51. How and where do I get my Golden Age Scholarship card?
Golden Age Scholarship cards are available only in ENROLLMENT SERVICES. The student must show proof of identity and residence at ENROLLMENT SERVICES.

? 52. As a Golden Age Scholarship recipient what classes can I take?
Golden Age students can take CMSV and credit courses for free. OLLI and CEU courses can be taken but you will be responsible for paying those course fees.
