Douglas Bull received a B.S. degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from Towson University in Maryland. Graduate work at Towson University, seminars, private study, and performances led to an Advanced Professional Certificate in 1979. He has studied with Dominic DiGangi, Raymond Moore, Donald Tyson and Emerson Head.
While pursuing a professional performance career he has played or recorded for: The Baltimore Symphony, Wyoming Symphony, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Liza Manelli, Barbara Streisand, Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Rosemary Clooney, The Four Tops, Temptations, The Spinners, Phil Collins, Ice Capades, Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus, musicals, original cast albums, five Presidential Inaugurations, movie soundtracks, and commercials among many others.
For his work as a conductor in Musical Theater, he has won multiple Critic’s Choice Awards for Best Musical Direction and Show of The Year. In addition, he taught in Baltimore County Schools for 21 years generating over 80 music scholarships for his students. Following that, he moved to Wyoming where he taught high school instrumental music generating another 75+ music scholarships.
In 2006 he accepted his present position at Casper College. He was also solo/principle/lead trumpet with U.S. Army Bands in Europe. He is an Endorsing Artist for the New York Trumpet Company and continues to perform professionally giving clinics and guest soloing.
